Starting in 1992, escalating tensions between Russia, China, India, and Pakistan led to a series of devastating global nuclear exchanges, leaving millions dead and whole regions irradiated. The international community struggled to respond, resulting in a chaotic, fragmented world often ruled by warlords and factions.
In order to prevent further conflict and nuclear annihilation, the international community came together in 2020 to establish the coalition known as Guardians of the Earth (GaE). Made up of representatives from countries around the world, GaE’s stated aim was to maintain peace and prevent further conflicts.
To achieve its goals, GaE developed advanced cybernetic technology to create a new type of soldier called Peacekeepers. These Peacekeepers were individuals who, thanks to implants, physical upgrades, and modifications to their DNA, were stronger, faster, and more capable than normal humans. Equipped with advanced weapons and a mandate to intervene in conflicts worldwide, Peacekeepers were tasked with quelling violence, maintaining order, and promoting peace.
Since their deployment in 2025, Peacekeepers have successfully kept conflicts in check and prevented the use of weapons of mass destruction. Operating under directives set by GaE, their efforts have resulted in less violence and warfare than in previous decades. However, maintaining peace has proven to be a difficult task, with challenges such as artificial intelligence-driven conflicts, climate change-induced disasters, and an ever-shifting global power balance.
The future of peacekeeping remains uncertain, as new conflicts and crises continue to emerge. GaE is adapting to newer threats, including cyberterrorism and space warfare, while also advocating for non-violent resolution to geopolitical conflicts. The organization and its Peacekeepers remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in an ever-changing world.
